Power Down Campaign

Gunston students on the Energy Conservation committee of the Environmental Club created a contest for a sign to be placed by non-automated light switches to remind everyone to shut off the lights when they leave the room.  The winning sign is shown here and is being posted around campus by club members.

Energy Savings Tips on the Gunston Gazette

Members of the Environmental Club seek to raise awareness about energy conservation through announcements at morning meetings one day per week and by posting reminders on the electronic Gunston Gazette.  The Gazette is visible in all buildings and reviewed in morning Advisory daily.

Student generated survey of room temperature and energy conservation efforts

Students and faculty identified an energy conservation issue in variability of room temperatures during the winter months.  After seeing teachers run the air conditioning or open windows in the winter, the Energy Conservation committee worked with their faculty advisor to create and distribute an online survey to all faculty members.  The group reviewed the responses and are working with the facilities team to address the concerns.
